The Doctor Who Computer games page

Introduction 2006

"He's back, and he's every where !"

A misquote from the 1996 TV Movie publicity sums up the current status of Doctor Who in the UK. Late 2004 and the whole of 2005 were a turning point for Doctor Who as he returned to prime time TV screens after 16 years. Russell T Davies gave the show new life. Reborn as the 9th Doctor with companion Rose Tyler, Chrsitopher Eccleston and Billie Piper made the show a big hit. Now as David Tennant and Freema Agyeman continue as the Doctor and Martha, travelling the universe.

The show is, however, more then just a TV experience. It's now a brand name for BBC Worldwide and you can get everything from toys, trading cards, magazines to talking mugs, rucksacks, bed spreads and flannels ! Surely, we must be due for a new Doctor Who game for the PS3 or 360 ??

I created this website to fill a little gap in the history of Doctor Who in the overlooked area of his adventures in pixel format. From the very good like Dalek Attack and Mines of Terror to the very difficult like Warlord. From the very earliest with the First Adventure to the lastest Destiny of the Doctors.

This site offers backgrounds to the games releases, how they were recieved, how they were played and in some cases how to complete them. You will find everything from text files, adverts, game artwork, screen shots, maps and reviews from the time. Included on this site are all major game releases licensed by the BBC plus games which parody the series or included the Doctor and his universe in someway.

I have only included official items as most fan made games or home made games have webpages created by their writers anyway. If you have a game and would like me to put up a link I will gladly do so.

Also available is information concerning the Transformers and their battles in the arcades. Heroic Optimus Prime faces the evil Megatron in fabulous 8-bit graphics.

My final inclusions are the games based on Gerry Anderson’s ever popular puppet series Thunderbirds. There have only been a few games based on the series and I managed to gather maps, cheats, and solutions on them so they are included as well.

Most of the games were for 8-bit game machines. The best one for graphics was probably the Amstrad or the Commodore 64 but for sheer game play and amount of games it had to be the ZX Spectrum. The Spectrum was just a simple system to use, it didn’t matter about graphics.
